Home Visits

Doctor's bag

If you require a home visit, this can be arranged by telephoning (01870) 602215. Please phone after 08:30 and before 10:30 if possible, as this helps the doctors to plan ahead. Please do not be offended if the receptionist or nurse asks for further information. This information is used to assess the urgency of your condition and allows us to respond efficiently. The doctor will usually call you back to discuss your request, also to ensure that they are properly prepared before attending.

If you are not sure which service you should use, or want some general advice, you can also phone NHS24 on 111.

The doctor, advanced nurse practitioner or advanced paramedic practitioner will carry out a home visit if someone is housebound or too ill to come to the practice or to the hospital. Visits are granted for medical reasons, not for social or personal reasons; lack of transport is not an acceptable reason for a visit request.

You can also be visited at home by a community nurse if you are referred by your GP. You should also be visited at home by a health visitor if you have recently had a baby or if you are newly registered with a GP and have a child under five years.
